EasyScout Nigeria Limited ("EasyScout", "we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

1. Information We Collect

Tenants: When you register as a tenant, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, and state of residence. When you subscribe, we collect payment information (processed securely through Paystack — we do not store card details). We also collect property search history, saved properties, and in-app activity logs.

Landlords: In addition to the above, we collect your date of birth, National Identification Number (NIN), government-issued ID document, live selfie photo, and a utility bill or bank statement for address verification. This is required for identity verification.

All Users: We automatically collect device information (browser type, IP address, device type), usage data (pages visited, time on site, clicks), and cookies (see our Cookie Policy).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Operate and improve the EasyScout platform
  • Verify landlord identities and process property listings
  • Process subscription payments and issue receipts
  • Send you platform notifications, inspection alerts, and subscription reminders
  • Investigate disputes, fraud reports, and complaints
  • Comply with Nigerian legal obligations (NDPR, FIRS, EFCC cooperation)
  • Generate anonymised platform analytics to improve our services

3. Data Sharing

  • Service providers: We share data with Paystack (payment processing), Google (Maps API), and AWS (cloud hosting). All providers are bound by data processing agreements.
  • Legal obligations: We may disclose your data to law enforcement, courts, or regulators when required by Nigerian law.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we retain certain records for 7 years for legal and tax compliance purposes. Verification documents (NIN, government ID) are retained for a maximum of 5 years after account closure.

5. Your Rights

Under Nigeria's Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and the NDPA 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Withdraw consent for data processing (where consent is the legal basis)
  • Lodge a complaint with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)

To exercise these rights, contact us at: privacy@easyscout.ng

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, AES-256 data encryption at rest, role-based access controls, and regular security audits. Sensitive documents (government IDs) are stored in encrypted, access-restricted cloud storage.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notification. Continued use of EasyScout after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
